The Caribbean Sea
Mid to upper-level anti-cyclonic flow prevails across the basin,
limiting any shower or thunderstorm activity for most areas. An
upper level trough over the Atlantic extends S to the NE Caribbean
and is inducing a surface trough that stretches from the Leeward
Islands near 17N62W to 12.5N66W. As a result, cloudiness with
embedded isolated showers prevails over the SE Caribbean.
Fresh to strong trades are occurring in the south-central
Caribbean, while mainly moderate to locally fresh winds prevail
elsewhere. Seas are 6-8 ft in the south-central Caribbean and 3-6
ft elsewhere, except up to 6-8 ft in the NE Caribbean passages due
to NE swell from the Atlantic.
For the forecast, high pressure building east of Florida will
maintain fresh to strong trade winds across the central Caribbean
Sea through Fri, with moderate to fresh winds elsewhere. Moderate
long-period N to NE swell will continue to propagate through the
NE Caribbean passages for much of the week.
On Ambergris Caye this morning the wind is blowing from the East-SE at 18 mph making the sea around our barrier reef rough. Today should be sunny with an expected high temperature of 86 f.
Our weather is changing, the Caribbean winds are coming up from the SE, there is only thin, fast high level from the SW. It looks as if there is a large swirl or gyro over North America, that just might bring some cool air our way soon.
Looks as if today will be mainly sunny and probably do rain.
Last Night 23 °C 73 °F Yesterday max. 29 °C 84 °F Yesterday Rain 0 mm ( 0 " ) Over Night Rain 0 mm ( 0 " ) Humidity 79% Pressure 1012 mBar hPa
