Marine Conditions:

The Caribbean Sea

A surface ridge extending southwestward from a 1027 mb Bermuda High continues to maintain an easterly trade-wind regime for the entire basin. This ridge is also supporting moderate to fresh wind speeds in the E and NW Caribbean as well as strong to near gale force winds across portions of the SW and south-central Caribbean where seas fluctuate between 8 to 11 ft. Seas of 5 to 7 ft are across the E basin while seas of 3 to 5 ft are elsewhere in the NW basin.

For the forecast, strong trade winds will continue over the south-central Caribbean Sea, with moderate to fresh winds elsewhere over the eastern and central Caribbean through the forecast period. Near gale to minimal gale-force winds will pulse at night near the coast of Colombia during the majority of the forecast period. A cold front will approach the Yucatan Channel area today, enter the NW Caribbean tonight through early Fri, then stall and dissipate Sat night. Strong NE to E winds are expected to affect the Windward Passage and Lee of Cuba Fri night through Sun night. Similar winds will resume in the Windward Passage Mon night.

The cool air bubble is still trying to come down from the north over us, but the easterly Caribbean winds are now holding it back. There is a little rain in that battle line just off the coast, but not much. The main rain north of Belize, is actually being pushed away from Belize, back into Mexico. As so often happens, when cool air pushes to us, our temperatures go UP and so yesterday and last night were very warm.

Looks as if today could be very variable, with this battle, the indications are mainly sunny, with some white clouds, but there could be patches of rain.

Last Night Temperature 24 °C 74 °F Yesterday max. Temperature 32 °C 90 °F
Humidity 77% Pressure 1016 mBar hPa Yesterday Rain 0 mm ( 0 " ) Over Night Rain 0 mm ( 0 " )

Present Condition: Mostly clear throughout the country, including in San Pedro. A few light clouds in the west. A cold front in the region will support a slight increase in moisture and instability over the area.

24hr Forecast: Sunny skies today with a few cloudy spells. Tonight skies will be cloudy at times. A few showers and isolated thunderstorms will develop along the coast at first then moved to inland during the afternoon and evening. Tonight and tomorrow shower activity will redevelop mainly along coastal areas.

Outlook: For Friday afternoon thru to Saturday midday is for cloudy spells with a few coastal showers at first then a gradual decrease in showers on Saturday.
