We'd like to do both...any easier ways of making this happen rather than having to schedule all the travel ourselves? Any hotels, etc that partner with one another and/or offer chartered flight service? Also, is it worth it do both or will we spend too much time traveling (car, boat, plane)...

Thanks!

How long are you planning???

Call them. Fly to BZE, they will meet you and take you to New River. Take the boat into the lodge. Spend 2 nights. Have them arrange flight from their airfield to SP. Spend the week at AC. Make your arrangements for AC stay. Plenty of choices from the board.

We were very impressed with Kanantik Reef and Jungle Resort. From international they include the in country airfare directly to their private airstrip in their price. All tours, with equipment if needed were included in the all inclusive package along with lodging, food and beverage, etc. check it out at www.kanantik.com We loved our stay and are planning on returning.

No matter where you go ... There you are!

Many, perhaps most, visitors to Belize do both, if not on the first visit then on the second -- it's called a surf n' turf. Typically, tourists spend some time on one of the cayes, most likely Ambergris, and then some time in Cayo District at a jungle lodge.

Belize is a small country and getting back and forth is fairly easy and quick.

A few hotels have tried setting up reef and rainforest partnership programs, offering packages at a beach resort and a jungle lodge, but in general those parterships haven't lasted too long. There are a lot of reasons, but mainly it is that there are a lot of good jungle lodges and a lot of good beach resorts, and visitors like to make their own decision about which one they choose -- they might like the beach hotel but prefer another jungle lodge, or vice-versa.

You can certainly do this. As said earlier it all depends on the time you have here in Belize.

I would suggests doing the Cayo area with Tikal perhaps and going either to AC or to Blue Marlin Lodge here in the south on SOuth Water Caye.

Hi, trina I would suggest the Orange Walk area. There is a lot to offer there. In particular there is the Lamanai Outpost lodge that offers exactly what you're looking for. You can contact me if you need more info at [email protected]

If you are looking for upscale and are traveling after December, you may want to consider Blancaneaux Lodge in the Mt Pine Ridge and their beach property in Placencia, Turtle Inn. They have a private airstrip in the Pine Ridge so will fly you between propeties for a nice combination of inland & beach.

There are many other combinations you can put together as well but this would be a very fine one if you have the $$$ and are concerned about travel time between places.

Thanks for the suggestions so far...it's been really helpful advice. We're planning on going end of Oct/beginning of November so we can take advantage of the off season prices ;-) so unfortunately the Blancaneux/Turtle Inn would not work. I think we're planning about 9 days.

Sweet Jane - pics and hints would be great!

Ian - I appreciate all the reference material, I'm going to stop at a bookstore on the way home and see if they have any.
