I'm in Houston & just caught the 10pm report. We are very lucky as it is now definitely forecast to go into Louisiana, just east of New Iberia. I feel terrible for them & New Orleans which is on the northeast quadrant(bad side). It's a category 4 & could become a category 5 before making landfall. Winds currently 145MPH with low winds of believe it or not 225! Luckily La. has mandatory evacuations (Texas does not),people in the immediate strike zone have left& they are not heavily populated big cities, but what will they have to come home to is another question.

Grace, We are here, Just got the news: Winds 145mph, moving 17mph, rains on land at least 10", storm surge 15-17ft. Land fall 8AM Thurs. Somewhere between the Texas/La. borders. Just evacuated 350,000 people from Beaumont,TX and 10,000 from the isle's of Galveston, TX. A lot of damage expected with this fast moving storm. All are worried about the surge with this fast moving storm. Expected to move off to the NE towards our Nations Capital with alot of rain and flooding along the way. NOT GOOD. We will be here for all the folks needing our help on the coast, and our prayers go to everyone in LILY's way..... Leave if you can... Thats what we know right now, will keep ya updated!!! Thanks, Rick

ok, another update, land fall is at 7am central time, at the TX/La. borders, storm surge of at least 20-25ft, NOT GOOD, out of the 750,000 people in LA., ask to leave, all have except for 18,000. In TX. in the Golden Triangle, which includes Beaumont and Port Aurther. all have left except for about 2000 ppl. who are going to ride the storm. Again our prayers are with ya all. More soon. Rick

They are talkin about a larger and wider storm surge and tornado watches from Beaumont, Tx. all the way to Alabama... Its not going to be pretty... You all take care down there and our prayers are with ya!!!!!! Rick

I live in New Orleans. We lost power this morning due to the winds. It just came back on. The hurricane is downgraded from a Cat 4 to a Cat 2. The eye just came ashore so we are expecting damaging winds all day. Just hunkering down....
