Do people usually rent their BC's and regulators from the dive master or do they bring equipment from home? I don't have any of my own, so I am going to have to rent from somewhere - I just did not know if the dive shops provide this service.

The majority of the shops have rental gear if you don't want to carry it with you. You can access the diving links of the main page of the Ambergris Caye website under goods and services and check out the rates for the various shops.

Most shops stock gear...

I bring my own due to the loss of several friends over 20 years of diveing due to poor equipment and lack of training. I've seen too many people panic because they were not use to the gear they rented, and have seen several failures while in AC, one pressure gauge read 1500psi...the guy had NO air and was in panic mode. The same guy's vest failed..had a leak his buddy should have seen...they were both new divers and he surfaced with help.
In most cases, the gear is well maintained down there. Just look for the newest stuff they have or ask..they are great people down there and will go out of their way to help.
