Planning a quick visit to AC on 2-6 Jan. Want to do it on the cheap after the holidays. Need a little break from the hustle and bustle. Looking forward to belikan, conch fritters, and diving. Considering a stay at Rubies, Hideaway sports lodge, the Conch Shell, or Marthas hotel. Anyone have experience, recommendations, or preference of these choices. Or any other ideas. My girlfriend says cheap is okay as long as it is not scary, dirty, or have crawly things that might climb into ones ears at night!!! j&a.

Thanks Grace. Do you know anything about taking the ferry over from Belize City? How much? Where? Schedule, etc? Is it reliable and much cheaper than flying? j&a

Take a flight...it's a whole lot faster and easier...after that, you can change your mind.

Once I stayed at a five star, high class hotel in Cozumel and a spider crawled into bed with me and bit me about a dozen times from my ear and down my neck. I don't know what's up with those creepy crawlie creatures. One would think they'd know to stay out of the high dollar resorts.

I stayed at Ruby's and didn't see any bugs, but I'm sure all those places are great. Get an oceanfront room if you can, it will be quieter. I hope you have a wonderful time!
