Planning first trip to AC for diving. Looking for a hotel/resort that has as many of these features as possible - Beachfront, nice rooms/cabanas, GOOD dive operation onsite or VERY nearby, a fun place or near places to have fun in the evening. Will be traveling single and money is really not a big issue.

Ramon's was recommended but they don't have the room class I want in March (don't want to travel 3,000 miles for a garden view!

Thanks, in advance, for your advice!

good recommendation is Victoria House or Banyan Bay.

Hi, trina I would suggest the Orange Walk area. There is a lot to offer there. In particular there is the Lamanai Outpost lodge that offers exactly what you're looking for. You can contact me if you need more info at djones@btl.net

Your criteria adds up to the Mayan Princess. Great rooms, fantastic large private patios, looking over the reef. Located right in front of Amigo's Del Mar, perhaps the premier dive operation on the island and right smack in the middle of the fun. Near lots of restaurants and most of the clubs and bars.

A fish and a bird can fall in love, but where will they build their nest?

Banana Beach has VERY nice beachfront rooms. A dive shop is nearby as well as the Travel Shop at the hotel that can help you with anything you want to do. There is a bar at the hotel which is very nice, a beach bar next door which can be fun and you are within walking distance of a short cab ride to town as well as having golf carts or bicyles you can rent at the hotel. I go to Banana Beach and have always gone as a single and always have a blast.

Try Blue Tang Inn. Nice rooms & Hustler is right out front. Billy Leslie is an excellent instructor and all the DM's there do an excellent job of making sure everyone is safe and has good experiences while visiting the reef.

I like the Blue Tang Inn as well but it doesn't have those fabulous private balconeys. And of course, I do favor Amigo's Del Mar as the dive op and Reef Adventures, which are both close to the Mayan.

For what you want, I agree with seashell -- Mayan Princess would be a great choice.

If you go for Mayan Princess, don't get room #16

it's too close to Fido's and the noise can get very bothersome in that little alley way especially on weekends.
