We have just woke up in cold England after two nights in freezing New York on our way home from San Pedro. We are already plotting our next visit later in the year and are having withdrawl symptoms .
No one could ever do justice to the beauty of the place, the lovely and friendly locals, the wonderful food and beer, the amazing barrier reef, and that white sand whoo !!!!!!
Stayed at Corona Del Mar and cant praise the staff enough, Woodie is one hell of a chap with a host of stories to wash down the rum punch
and the lovely Helen is so charming never gets flustered.
We never got north of the town (that can wait for next time) so our favourite eating places were Coconut Carumba great fish, Jamble Jerk graet fish with a spicy kick, and the Bamboo Vegetarian place run by Kate down south of the town on the back road just before Bunyan Bay grate food and wonderful atmosphere only open till 5.00pm
We arrived on New Years eve and apart from a 30 minute heavy shower on new years day saw no rain. The locals said it was a bit cold the first few days but it was a nice build up to the later hot days
Marilyn went snorkelling for the first time and was knocked out. Being a beginner she got great attention from Victor on the glass bottom boat and Russel and Willie of Seaduced tours on the next trip. Those guys are great at pointing out all the best things to see and getting the rays to come to them.
We also had the pleasure of being shown the plot of land that Frank (the horseshoe champ from Woodies) is going to build his house on. It was so humbling to see the delight on his face and feels his pride at knowing that he would be creating a house for his family from swamp land in an area that was littered with remnants from the last hurricane, his family had already built a 100 yard path from the river to his plot with sand they had collected and dug up. Frank does all this as well as works a 12 hour day 6 and sometimes 7 days a week kind of puts our hard work to shame
Yes San Pedro touched us in so many ways. It was AWESOME as you yanks say
