We are really interested in Honeymooning in Belize. We would like it to be romantic, but close to town and beachside. Any suggestions or advice would be great, especially on hotels and food.

Congratulations....

Close to town on the beach and a nice place? Check out Ramons Village and get the honeymoon or International suite. That will be the most expensive but, close to everything. Victoria House is another suggestion but it is about 2 miles south of town. Both of these are high-end full service resorts. If you are looking for something a little more low key you could try The Palms, Aqua Marina Suites and Tradewinds Paradise Villas, each of these offers oceanfront suites and they are right in town. Check out the lodging section of this web site for more info on all these hotels.

Good luck

Caribbean Villas "hotel" is popular for honeymooners. Only 10 rooms/suites (all beachfront) on 2+ acres of land with bird sanctuary, 300 feet of beach, 350 foot pier with swimming and snorkeling area, lots of wildlife. Most of the staff have been with the Villas since they opened and are very guests oriented. Free bikes, hot tubs, hammocks, very quiet. Muchos restaurants nearby. About a 15-ish minute walk to town (Villas are south of town). Villas do not accept commissions from guides or tour companies, so you get very objective recommendations and bookings and in some cases cheaper prices. Ask for 10% off from listed prices for the Villas' suites/rooms. Happy honeymoon and marriage!!
