This is what happens when it is 7 degrees and windy ! This morning I was sitting there drinking my coffee and daydreaming about fishing in the cayes while looking through the window watching two crows fighting over the frozen dog food. I started thinking about the fish in AC and tried to remember the names in Spanish. It's good to know so you know what the local fisherman use as far as terms. 1] bonefish=macabi, 2] Permit=palometa 3] Tarpon=sabalo 4] snook=robalo 5] shark= tiberon 6] grouper=mero 7] jewfish= cherna 8] Shrimp=camaron 9] squid=calamar 10] snapper= pargo. 11] conch=carocol.....I know, I need a life right ? Hey, i remembered a few more ! dolphin=dorado, mackerel= sierra, octopus=pulpo, barracudo=picudo, horse conch=maimulla.....i have a hobby, i make my own shrunken heads from a real jivaro recipe. just joking, i am slightly crazed but harmless usually. i tie my own flies for flyfishing during these cold days. you right about the redsnapper. it seems, pargos colorados is more common in Belize and Guatemala.
