Alphonse is by far the best guide for snorkeling in AC. Just ask any locals or the place your staying and they will know Alphonse. Went out several times with him. The last time in November we took my 76 year old father with us and Alphonse could not have been better with him. Pulled him around until my dad was comfortable, brought up a shark and ray to my dad, right in his face, my dad almost crapped himself on that one. He'll pick you up at the end of your dock.

Just my opinion

$20 for 9-noon + $5 shark ray park fee+tip

Hi, Geraldo Badillo is a great guide and his rates are fair. We have used his services for 21 years, and we have never had any problems at-all. His tele # is 226-2264. Have a great trip and enjoy the reef..........mel s

You know, those nurse sharks and rays are very impressive. Geraldo's web-page is // , or click on fishing links here on this page, then click on what boats to use, and geraldo and the gato is on it. The 1/2 day investigating Hol Chan, and visiting and snorkeling in Shark and Ray alley. $30.00 per person {american $}. You maybe try haggeling with him, it might a factor how much busy he is .

The only real danger with the nurse sharks is putting your hand or fingers "Directly" in his/her mouth. I coaxed a 12' one to swim into my arms , then rolled him over to give him some "nap time". Felt like a relaxed puma...

They are very gentle and good natured. I had a Ray swim up my back and rest on my head like a hat...I almost drowned laughing..hehe
I look forward to my trip in April to once again connect with the sea creatures...

You will see more fish in those two areas than any single dive site in the area. Hol Chan and Shark Ray are " I think???" in the same park.

Life May Be a Beach...I prefer Reefs...

Alfonse Graniel is $25US for Hol Chan/Shark Ray Alley; he goes twice a day, but will schedule to your needs if you don't want his regular trip. Phone: 226-3537; 614-5450. Both he and Geraldo are great guides. Happy snorkeling!

We love Geraldo (and Justo) Never been w/anyone else so can't help w/comparing. I think the rays are some of the neatest creatures. And sailing on the ElGato is a dream. You could take a full day to Caye Caulker w/ 2 snorkel stops if you'd like. Great trip! You can stop at the pier where the cat is docked, just down from Cholo's near the cemetary, and talk w/them on the boat. Have fun!

Ok, I don't know if I went at a bad time, but there were NO sharks only rays. Is it rare to see the sharks or something? the rays were fun and all - they get VERY close - but I was hoping for some sharks. confused
