Gotta group of 8 coming to Ambergris January 4 - 11 next year. We're a diverse bunch who have not "reunioned" in 25 years. Divers, Anglers, loafers and shoppers. We're staying at Banana Beach and all appear to be happy with that location. We'd like to know a few things from the veterans though. First, is it worth buying tickets to Jerry Jeff's concerts? I understand that we'd have to buy a pass to all three nights for $125.00 per person, and most of the group might want to go one night at most, then sell the reamining nights at a loss. If we don't but the pass, what are the chances of buying a pass from somebody that has used a night or two and wants to skip the rest?
Next, any comments about Banana Beach? What about snorkel trips, fishing, and tubing? Any "must see/must do's?".
Last, should I FedEx our clothes early along with my cheapest guitar? If I leave my guitars at home can I rent/borrow/find one (acoustic or AE) while there? Not looking for anything fancy to play, just something to hold and pick.

Snorkeling: Alfonse Graniel, L'il Alfonse under "Goods & Services" menu above, phone: 614-5450; 226-3537; great guy & guide, wonderful with people & fish; ask him about other snorkeling sites after you visit Hol Chan & Shark Ray Alley

Fishing: Ramon or Severo Guerrero, phone 226-2325, 226-2324; great fishermen and fun to spend a day with; they provide all the gear; they cook a great beach picnic with your catch and will send fillets back with you for restaurant to cook for future meals

Sailing: Geraldo Badillo, 226-2264, fun and serene

Mainland trips: Tanisha and Seaduced

All these guides will pick you up at Banana Beach in their boats.

Parasailing: Fido's Dock

Great local food: Los Cocos restaurant on north end of town, off middle street past Richie's Supermarket; wonderful whole fried snapper and fish fillets

We don't know anything about Jerry Jeff's performances. Happy reunion!

Eight of us went to the Jerry Jeff concert at AC last month. Most of the attendees were hard core and we didn't see any passes for sale. However, we bought 4 passes between the 8 of us and each attended one or two concerts. The ones who didn't go on a particulary night sat on the next pier and could still hear pretty well. I thought the concerts were worth it, but if you aren't a hard core fan, one would probably be enough. The passes this year were $150. Why don't you just buy 3 passes and each go to one concert with one lucky person getting to go to two? My nephew brought his acoustic guitar along on the plane in the overhead rack and didn't have any problem. You could also check it as luggage. He met Jerry Jeff on the return trip and Jerry said be sure to lossen the strings if you are packing it as luggage to allow for some pressure changes.
