I keep hearing rumors that there are "15 unconfirmed deaths in Belize". Loved ones need confirmation.

I don't want to scare people, but we need to focus more on the loss of life issue.

I'm looking for updated information to share with the media:

(Total for Belize including islands)
1) how many confirmed dead since storm hit?
2) how many seriously injured?
3) how many homeless?
4) What is most desperately needed to help that's not listed in posts below?

I will keep you all posted with results of my efforts for US media coverage via the subject in this forum titled "Media Coverage".

Thanks for any help you can provide in getting some answers to these important questions.

Helen,

We know for sure of one death, and one missing; her husband.

Please dont' report names of pple who died here...Helen has an email..perhaps discuss this with her via email.

JMHO..I don't feel this is an appropriate forum for names of casualties.

just confirm one death and others missing. Lots of damage on the bask side.

GIVE THEM PATTY ARCEO'S EXACT STATEMENT PLEASE

I'LL LOOK FOR IT IMMEDIATELY AND APPEND IT TO THIS

HERE IS A MESSAGE FROM THE HON. PATTY ARCEO, SAN PEDRO REPRESENTATIVE:
ALTHOUGH 'KEITH' HAS BEEN BEATING IT'S WAY UP AND DOWN OUR SHORES, YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY HERE ARE BEING WELL CARED FOR. THEY HAVE PURIFIED DRINKING WATER, ARE WELL FED, HAVE BEEN KEPT SAFE AND COMFORTABLE AND ARE BEING LOOKED AFTER BY LOCAL GOVERNMENT. OUR COMMUNICATION TOWERS ARE PRESENTLY DOWN, BUT IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS, WHEN THIS HAS SETTLED DOWN, EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOUR FRIENDS OR FAMILY MEMBERS WILL PERSONALLY BE CALLING YOU. ANYONE KNOWING THE RESILIENCY OF THE SAN PEDRANOS KNOWS THAT DESPITE THIS SET BACK, WE WILL BE UP AND RUNNING IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS AND WAITING TO WELCOME THE MANY OTHER FRIENDS AND LOVED ONES WHO CARE TO VISIT THIS BEAUTIFUL ISLAND OF OURS.

and try to work this in:
donations online at: http://BelizeOne.com/donations

Currently, the Belize Embassy is accepting only check donations. They can be sent to:

Ambassador Lisa M. Shoman
Embassy of Belize
2535 Massachusetts Avenue, NW
Washington, DC 20008

An accompanying email to [email protected] would be appreciated so we could track
all donations.

It's unfair not to think of the families of those lost in the bus accident this morning. Their families are grieving too.

There will be a supply truck leaving Houston, TX on Friday to take any supplies that people donate. There is also a cargo flight leaving tomorrow. Please let anyone who wishes to send relief supplies to call me.

Thanks to all of you for the information.

Any updates on the list of needs and confirmed casualties number? I need to know how many people Keith has killed in ALL of Belize (including all the islands) and breakdown by location/area if possible.

By the way, I agree that no names of those who have died should be posted here. It's important that people hear about this via phone or in person reather than reading second, third and fourth hand information, or hearing it on the radio or TV. I think Marty should be involved also whenever communication of casualties are reported (both here and personally to their loved ones).

This will now be my resource for confirmed information to report to the media. Please posts all confirmed updates. Thanks!
