Many people seemed to have provided several suggestions for fishing guides/boats. I am thinking about a 1/2 day of reef fishing - who is the best local guy to go with? Phone numbers are good, but email addresses to accompany names are better.

Last year I went to Ixtapa, Mexico.... "Zih-Wa" is the neighboring fishing town and the fishermen run the water taxi's during the day after they get their morning catch. The thing is though that there are so many fishermen that they have to alternate days that they help out in operating the water taxi. So, one day I was on the water taxi and going to do some snorkelling at Ixtapa island. The captain saw our snorkelling gear and said he could take us out to a "very good snorkelling place" the following day. How much? $25/person for as long as we wanted to stay out. It was AMAZING! We fished on the way out to the snorkel spot that you could only get to by boat, caught a "bonita" fish (black tuna), and arrived to the snorkel spot where the captain fixed fantastic ceviche for us from the fish while we had the most amazing snorkelling excursion!

So, can I have a similar experience while in AC? If so, with who? Hook me up! wink Thanks!

We did a fishing/snorkeling trip with Hustler Tours that was incredible. We went with Alex & Guillermo. We trolled outside the reef for a while without any luck then we headed inside the reef and caught plenty of snapper and did some snorkeling and conch gathering. Then we headed in for an excellent beach BBQ at a deserted unfinished resort. Very secluded. On the way home we stopped at the Palapa bar for a few rum punches and then at Wet Willy's at the Hustler Dock before heading back. Definitely plan on doing it again..

look at this webpage, it gives you an idea how much are the services and the destinations for snorkeling. this guy fishes too, but he uses a smaller panga {fishing skiff} for bringing fishermen. he is an old friend, and i would say he is one of the best fisherman i ever met in my life. of course there many really great guides in belize ! // adios, mel s......

Yes, many great guides in San Pedro. Some favorites we have used for over 10 years are Ramon and Severo Guerrero, E-mail:, phone 226-2325, 226-2324; great fishermen and fun to spend a day or 1/2 day with. Either one will show you a wonderful experience. They will send fish and/or fillets back with you for a restaurant or you to cook for future meals. Happy catch!
