A story in today's Wall Street Journal (front page, Personal Journal section) discusses increasing travel to Central and South America from the U.S. While travel is way down to Asia due to SARS and also off to Europe due to the stronger Euro, travel to Latin America, including Belize, is soaring,

The paper says bookings to Belize and Costa Rica by Liberty Travel (a large New Jersey-based travel agency group that runs full-page ads in the Sunday New York Times) are up 33% from a year ago. The WSJ also notes that airlines are running fare sales to the region, with average fares to Belize cut almost in half, from around US$600 to close to $300.

Southwest coast of Florida to Belize $482.00 best price I could find. We're leaving right around Memorial Day and I figured that might be a reason for our flight prices being high.
