Wife and I will be in AC in July and were wondering if any one has any feedback on the Xanadu Resort?

Great place: really nicely built and decorated condos; small resort; free bikes and kayaks; easy and fun 15-ish minute beachwalk to town - close enough to enjoy town, but far enough away to sleep quietly; beautiful beachside pool; wonderful staff

Happy vacation!

Thanks for your responce. Thats exactly what we were looking for. Small and secluded, but still close to town.

I'm a fan of Xanadu and agree with the other comments. However, in the interest of full disclosure, a couple who stayed at Xanadu (partly on my recommendation) recently send us a trip report and had a complaint or two, mainly about the construction going on there. But I think this is the only complaint report I've gotten.

We stayed at Banana Beach the last two weeks of May, so walked by Xanadu several times walking to town ... there is a LOT of construction going on there and I was very glad we decided not to stay there this trip. Looks like it's probably an ok place, but not right now, especially if it's quiet you want.

Xanadu wrote me yesterday and said the construction is due to be completed by the end of August.

Construction at Xanadu Island Resort is scheduled to be completed at the end of August 2003. At that time, we will have 16 fully equipped condominium suites offering 1, 2 and 3 bedrooms. We try to keep our guests in mind with the noise level during construction hours. We realize that this is your vacation and you want it to be perfect. We hope that our luxurious suites, beautiful grounds, exotic freshwater swimming pool and friendly and helpful staff will help to make your holiday everything you expected.

We appreciate the many positive things said about Xanadu Island Resort on this message board and hope to improve on the negative. Your comments (both positive and negative) are appreciated either via this medium or feel free to email me direct at [email protected].

From all the staff at Xanadu Island Resort, we thank you for your patronage and look forward to seeing you soon at Xanadu!

If the construction crews are anything like the ones at Captain Morgan's it will be December before they are finished. At Captain Morgan's they were building some simple stairs next the first unit we occupied (we moved). They said they would be finished in 2 days. After 2 weeks they were no where near being finished. My husband is a contractor. He wanted to just go out there and finish it up for them. It was driving him crazy. Also, we drove by Xanadu while we were there on June 9th and it looked like they had "a lot" of work to do.
