I am returning to AC for the second time the end of August and am considering taking the water taxi from Belize City to AC. Is this enjoyable at all or just a hassle? Is it somewhat scenic and an interesting part of a trip? I confused took Tropic Air last time and that was OK but thought maybe something different would be fun. Also, how long does it take to get from the airport (International) to the water taxi in Belize City.

This info seems a little outdated, If I remember correctly, since last year, they now have a lot more ferrys leaving from tourist village, the last one leaving at about 5:00 - 5:30PM.. I think.

Could someone confirm this for us ?

It always was an issue the fact that most planes land at about 2 or 3 PM, and the last boat left at 3PM, there was just no way to make it.

Confirm or deny please ?

Thank you!

It's about 20 mins. from Int'l airport to the ferry dock, I usually use the one in town by the swing bridge. The last ferry that leaves Belize City is 4:30, stopping at Caye Caulker and then to San Pedro arriving at 6:00. It's a bumpy ride sometimes but you'll always meet interesting people - locals and tourists. You should give it a try just to say you've done it.

The Thunderbolt MIGHT go from Tourist Village, I'm not too sure. I use the Caye Caulker Water Taxi Association - they go from the dock by the swing bridge. It's very easy to find, you just need to tell the taxi guy that you want to take the ferry by the swing bridge. They'll know.

The Thunderbolt leaves from the Texaco station on the Belize River, west of the swing bridge. The Caye Caulker Water Taxi Association leaves from the Marine Terminal right next to the Swingbridge (just east of it) about every 1-1/2 hour. There are no more water taxis leaving from the tourism village. The Andrea leaves from the Bellvue Hotel in the afternoon. The trip to San Pedro will take about 1-1/2 hours. They stop first at Caye Caulker and unload passengers and luggage, and then continues on to San Pedro.
