OK -- just got Lan's SP Cool and while checking it out, noticed that he says Belizian vodka is "awful". Why is that? My husband and I are mainly vodka drinkers, normally using Diet Squirt as a mix. Can we bring our own vodka?? course that would require a totally separate suitcase for two weeks laugh

He is referring to local vodka. However, Absolut and Stoly are available all over. And yes, you can bring your own.

Hey Wes - I'm pretty easy to get along with. Sun, sand, surf, vodka and a pool table, what more does a person need

I believe that each person can bring in two bottles of booze into Belize. My friends brought their Vodka with then in March when we all went.

Having a fondness for vodka martinis, I also covered these bases in 99. My plan was to pack some vermouth soaked olives and pick up a bottle in the duty free in Houston (or maybe it was Dallas) on the way down. Oddly enough, Stoli or Absolute was more expensive there than I would pay here in Minnesota. I did it anyway. I then found out I could have gotten it down there at the grocery store for not all that much more. I decided it wasn't worth the effort. The bottle I did buy, I didn't drink much of after I discovered Belikin. Unless you are really tied into it, is it really worth the effort of safeguarding that bottle in the luggage? Regardless, have yourself a great time.

Been there, done that, the washing machine ate the T-shirt

The Lerska brand of Belizean vodka can consumed if one is really desperate. Just be sure to put it through a double layer of coffee filters to get the black "floaty" stuff out. Do not ven try the Tsar brand or ANY Belizean made gin. DO NOT EVEN THINK OF TRYING THE GIN, trust me.

Two things. No.1, I'm having a really BAD day and couldn't quite shake my misery until I got on this board (which says a lot). Secondly, I am one of those buffoons(sp?)that lugged 2 bottles of expensive vodka in my carry-on. For future reference, what does a litre of good vodka cost? I do not like cheap alcohol.

OK..I'm a vodka drinker and my bar carries 5 different imports and I refuse to drink our local rock gut vodka but there is a cheap alternative which costs about $10.00 US a bottle a Jamaican Vodka called Spassyaka (we call it Spastic) and I use this for happy hour and sell it as a local vodka with a decent taste.. still buy 4 bottles at duty free coming in and your best news is for some reason we have one of the cheapest duty free liquor shops in the world ...
so when your going home remember to buy your Big stoli bottles for $10 US so there is my personal scoop on you are really up a creek when it comes to diet squirt you are definately I believe out of luck but you can get fresh grapefruit juice with a hit of soda water?
Come see me in Caye Caulker on a day trip you'll enjoy my Vodka collection but I am an expensive date... it's not cheap to drink import Vodka down here! Nuff Love Rasta Pasta

Hey Rasta -- thanks for the good info on vodka. Will do as you suggest and pick some up on our way in. If I asked you to make me a vodka collins, what would you put in it? We won't be down til mid-March so will make that day trip and come visit. How do I find you??
