The tap water is safe to drink. However, I only use it to brush my teeth because it tastes funny. You can buy bottles of water in all sizes at the grocery stores, etc. Your hotel will probably also supply you with some, at least to get you started.

And yes, rum is always good too, though I can't remember ever brushing my teeth with it.

A fish and a bird can fall in love, but where will they build their nest?

Why did the shark take just one bite out of the clown and then swim away?

Hi Chi,

We make the water at the desalination plant. When it leaves our plant it goes to the municipal system who distributes it throughout the island. When it leaves our plant it is safe to drink....that's all we can guarantee. The funny taste is the chlorine which we add, admittedly at higher than normal levels, to ensure that any/all "bugs" from any breaks in the distribution pipelines to the town are killed. This is just a safety measure.

When you get here, if you like, please feel free to come down to the desalination plant (beside the "Purina Dog Chow" tower) and we will give you a tour of the plant.

While staying at Banana Beach I drank alot of tap water. At first I thought it tasted a little like seaweed, but after a day or so I didn't even notice it.
