Hello, I'm new here. Was planning a trip to AC
late next May but read about the dreaded pico pico....will they be waiting for us then? And is it pretty rainy in late May? Need to work around a college kid's schedule. When do the pico pico
go away???
THANKS

dreaded is pretty funny. they don't affect me at all. i swim right thru them.

anyway, they are a spring thing. exactly when they are gone is up to mother nature. but they are nothing to worry about or plan around. its not like they are 6 feet thick and inpenetrable.

Oops, sorry; pica pica it is! (No wonder I didn't get anywhere when I tried a Search for pico pico! Pico pico sounds like some kind of game you play when you're drunk) It's not my kid, but she's in law school at American (Wash. DC) They get out for the summer on May 15.
Thanks for the info! Guess I won't let it scare
us away.

We usually dive in May and I get Pica Pica but my husband does not. If you happen to appeal to the little buggers, you itch and if you scratch, you itch even more. Nothing has been a relief for me. I scratch in my sleep. A friend coats himself in petroleum jelly, eco problem and very slippery. Lime juice only makes me feel sticky & itchy. Only someone who is adversly affected could really understand the misery that Pica Pica can cause, but not everyone is affected. Mesquitos love me too.

most of the guides put on baby oil before they get on the water if the pica pica is pretty bad. i've gotten it many times before and calomine lotion works well to stop the itching.
