I am planning to honeymoon in Belize and would like to plan a pre-wedding party with Belizean food. What types of food and drinks should I serve??? sangria? tapas? are these found in Belize? Also, can Belikens be purchased here in the Northeast??

Thank you!!

To my knowledge, to enjoy a belikin, you have to go to Belize. frown Any drink with rum would work.

Here are some recipes of typical belizean fare:

If you are going to be on AC, Casa Picasso has tapas, and folks rave about the food. You might want to visit them during your stay.

Best wishes to you! smile

Chicken, rice & beans. Seafood. Rum. Tropical fruits like pineapple, mango, papaya, banana, coconut, watermelon. Hot sauce!

Stewed chicken, rice and beans are definitely a daily diet in Belize, but a traditional San Pedro wedding dinner is a little more "special."
A typical wedding dinner in San Pedro consists of roast turkey and dressing, ham, rice and beans, potato salad.
Before the dinner there are snacks. Typically you'll have things like chips with cheese dip and/or lobster dip; stuffed jalapenos; civeche.
Jello shots are also popular (and deadly if overdone).

smoked salmon and caviar is always on my list-if that fails a good bottle of port and a good hunk of stilton.
