My husband and I are in our late 30's and this will be our very first trip to Belize. We are very much into snorkeling and diving. We love to stay at a hotel that we can snorkel or shore dive in front of the hotel after we come back from our day trip. Are there any places like that? We are currently looking at the March time frame and have contacted both Bannana Beach and Aqua Marina ( Any preference on Hotel from the board?). It does not matter if there is not place like that, because I think the country is beautiful. But I was just wondering. Thanks for your help!

Sincerely,

Kim

There is no shore diving off Ambergris Caye. The reef is 1/2 mile offshore. There is pretty good night snorkeling to be had around some of the piers, but wait until about 1 hour after dark so that all the night creatures have had a chance to begin their explorations.

IMO Banana Beach. But, you wouldn't be disappointed with either hotel.

It's good to know that you are both in your late 30's. I am going to have a beer to celebrate that fact. However, I am not sure the answers to your questions would have been different if you were a few years older or younger!

Decent snorkeling under the pier at Ramon's. Not coral but usually lots of fish.

Banana Beach for hotel.

Kim, your first trip to Belize you'll never forget, I hold it dear to my heart and will return for my second trip in Dec.
Banana Beach is a better hotel and nicer area.

Oops. Hit the button too fast on the last post.

When do you arrive in March? My husband and I are taking our first trip to Belize March 12-19. We also adore snorkeling and are staying at the Banana Beach.
