If you are really into the pool aspect, Ramon's is hard to beat. The Palms, while right next door to Ramon's and a better value for the $, has their pool behind the building. So nice and private but not on the beach side so no views. Nice lush landscaping though. Basically the beach is the same for both places which is small but nice with relatively clear water. Ramon's has a wider section of beach and lounge chairs which the Palms does not. Both are great location within easy walking distance to town.

I have seen all the other places too and all are very nice. Caribe probably has the best beach but is by far the furthest from town (free bikes though wink ). I stayed at Xanadu on my last trip and it was excellent. Narrow beach but great pool and swimming area off the dock. Spacious suites. Free bikes & kayaks for guests. Mata Rocks has a small pool and beach area but very nice rooms & suites, friendly helpful staff & great little beach bar (also free bikes). Their oceanfront jr suites are the closest to the water of any hotel on the island! There are restaurants within walking distance to Xanadu & MR but not Caribe (except their own).

Thanks again! So appreciate all of the great info. Ramon's beachfront are all booked so I think we are staying at the Palm's. Can you party at Ramon's if you are not staying there? Can you use their pool and buy drinks???

Darla, you will never regret your decision to stay at the Palms. Yes, you can go over to Ramon's and party at their bar. But you will also be close to lots of other great places to party.

It is my opinion that the higher cost paid at Ramon's is for the ambiance of the grounds, the pool and the dock. The rooms aren't all that, to my mind.

However, the Palms has lovely condo units. You can get some of your own goodies, make yourself snacks or even meals, if you are so enclined. The pool area is lovely, though I agree it is unfortunate that it is in the back of the property. You are right next to Ramon's and everyone from all over the place, make use of Ramon's dock.

Did you get a unit in the main building or did you get the Casita?

Belizean Shores is located north of the cut. Go to the search function and pull up some of the threads talking about it.

It has a great pool and the units are very nice. I don't care for the layout of the property overall, it reminds me of a military compound. Families seem to quite like it. In my opinion, it's not a great location for people that like to party.

The Casita is outback by the pool and doesn't have an ocean view.
