Hello,

My husband and I wanted to stay at Victoria House, but they are fully booked... can you give me your opinions of Captain Morgan's?

Thanks,

If you are looking for a place that is secluded and quiet, I would highly recommend Capt Morgan's. It is on the north side of the cut so if you are wanting to party late in San Pedro, you will have to take a water taxi back. We stayed there on our honeymoon and loved it!! They have a great restaurant, pool, and an awesome staff.
Have fun!!

We just stayed there last week and really enjoyed it. The food was good and the staff was great. Everyone there was very nice. We actually found it to be a pretty social place. People gathered at the bar around dinner time and it was easy to strike up a conversation with most anyone.

The main issue with Captain Morgan's is that it's on the "other" side of the cut so you have to take a boat to get into town. However, all we did was ask the front desk when a boat was going into San Pedro to pick up or drop off guests and hitched a (free) ride with them. You have to be flexable on when you want to leave and return (make sure you ask when the next boats are going) but it worked out pretty well. Just remember that the Captain Morgan's boats aren't on a schedule, but go to town when new customer's arrive. If they new guests arrive early the boat will leave early.

If you have to take a water taxi, there is a schedule posted and it costs $5 U.S. for a one-way trip. However, we learned that if you have at least four people, they will pick you up and drop you off anytime (for $5 U.S. per person). Just show up at the dock and they'll take you or have Captain Morgan's call for you.

My wife and I stayed at CMR last week. We met charliec and his better half while we were there. I agree with everything charliec said above. Nice beach, great pool, good restaurant, and a very friendly staff. CMR's is also next door to one of the nicest restaurants on the island (Capricorn's).

Once recommendation, if you do decide to go there I would suggest booking through their web site; I think they include some extras for free when you do (ex: snorkle eqpt, bikes, etc).
