I'm slowly becoming addicted to the message board. 11 days until we arrive and can't wait. Just how small are the puddle jumpers from Belize to AC? Is there a weight limit since we have sooooo much dive gear to bring? Any suggestions for the best resturants in town? We go for seafood and steak but would like to try the local fare also. Thanks for the info and entertainment. Divedoc

Most of the Tropic Air and Maya flights from BZE to San Pedro hold 11 or 12 people (I think). Don't know how they get so much luggage on the planes, but nearly alway get all of it to SP with your flight. They do have some smaller planes ... for example, we took a side trip to Tikal a couple of years ago. On the return flight from Flores, we were treated to 4 place Cessna. Thought my wife would jump out of her skin when the pilot made a sudden maneuver to get a better view of a waterfall. Also, we took a 4 seat plane from San Pedro to Orange Walk on the way to Lamanai. Nice smooth flight very early in the morning. BTW, Orange Walk's "runway" (I was going to say "airport", but that would really be an exageration)looks more like a short straight dirt road in the middle of a cane field.

divedoc, I travel like a princess, including all my dive gear. My bags have always made it with my flight. I have heard of a a couple of people that have had to wait until the flight following brought the rest of their luggage, but it is not a very long wait. It is not even so long as you could be waiting for your bags to come off of a conveyor at a major airport.

However, I have noticed that my bags have suffered some stress from being packed into the smaller planes. I consider it a very small price to pay for the pleasure I get during my times in San Pedro.

A fish and a bird can fall in love, but where will they build their nest?
