Anybody know anything about Avion Travel? They're offering a 7 night stay at Banyon Bay for $139 plus $19 pp/per night. Looks like a good deal, but it also looks a little fishy.

never heard of them - what's their website?
is the $139 also pp/pn or for the week and per person or flat ?
my point being, $139 = $20 per night, doubt you get Banyan Bay for $58 ( 20+19+19) per night!!

The trip is for sale on e-bay.

I bought my next weeks trip air/hotel on www.skyauction.com Last year I won a trip to St. Martin and it all went excellent. Some great deals can be found there.

True - Ive used them numerous times also - sometimes throw away the hotel and simply use the air, and still save $$.
For the novices, however, there can be some pitfalls - i.e.
1. failure to read the restrictions, add-on fees, etc.
2. overbidding - not doing your due diligence
Another tip - hold your line to max bid - there's always another auction coming right in behind it

I know of them - I bought the same deal, it is no deal as it is very unlikely that you will ever see Banyon Bay. When I tried to use the certificate, I was told I had to pick two destinations and two different dates. The other place I picked was Florida keys. They found me place in the Keys, but it was and extra $89 per night (that is 139+ per day 22x2+89=$1070 for the week). When I protested they said "well the Keys are an expensive place so there is a surcharge. I then ask if there would have been a surcharge to Belize and the lady said well of course that is international. Anyway I did get all my money back except the "registation fee" forget what that was. Avilon travel acted as if they had no idea that what they were sell was bogus -since they are still selling I would put them in the catagory of crooks. Cheap as crooks go.

I KNEW there was someone one this board who had difficulty with a deal at Banyan Bay. (not to reflect poorly on them, as it wasn;t their doing)

Thanks, Indygal, I was afraid this deal looked just a little too slick when I noticed that every destination they sold seemed to have an identical $19 pp/pd "Tax". Add to that the disclaimer about availablity and "terms subject to change" and my radar was on high beam alert. I sent them an email asking for a "TOTAL PRICE" before the auction ended, but they didn't respond. Too bad, I really like the resort.

e-bay is where you rip people off because they're stupid or people rip you off because you're stupid, and it's the only site on the internet where you can get a quarter for a dollar.
If you must choose between two evils, pick the one you've never tried before.
