To clarify, the famous Blue Hole off the Humminbird Highway is a classic fresh-water cenote, as is part of the lake at Five Blues National Park also off the Hummingbird.

But the Blue Hole at Lighthouse atoll is ALSO a cenote -- a large one and of course salt water not fresh, but it is geologically about the same as the land cenotes in Belize or in the Yucatan.

What about the underwater caves on the west side of Caye Caulker? Anybody know anything about those?

People died in there. The bodies are still there.

What Chismera says is true-people died in that cave and many others. Cave diving is very dangerous and requires specific certification. I would not put my life in the hands of someone researching that (or the spanish lanaguage...)

I am in the process of exploring the local cave systems, and depend in my work load, I am hopping to begin to offer cave diving training in the near future.

We offer cave tours to certified cave diver, and train divers to all level of technical diving up to Trimix Instructor Trainer level (the person that certify instructors). Additionally, we provide training on most type of semi closed and closed circuit rebreathers (CCR) and naturally recreational diving.

Technical diving, rebreather diving, and cave diving can be extremely dangerous with out proper training.

We are one of the only location in the world that is able to train Trimix divers to the new IANTD Expedition Trimix program (train to 400 feet/ 120 meters). I am a Member of the IANTD Board of Advisors (BOA), and one of the very few IANTD Trimix Instructor Trainer Trainer (ITT).

Definition: "Cenote are part of a cave ceiling, which collapsed leaving a natural entrance to the underground river systems. The Mayans call these sinkholes "Dznot" (sacred well), hence the Spanish word Cenote.

Roni, what cave(s) are you currently offering? And what cenotes are you considering? And at what place in time do you think these dives will be available for my friends?

Toad:
Yes, my courses do make better sense than my massages. English is not my first language.

Seashell:
At the moment we offer guided cave trip to certified cave divers to the Mexican Rock cave, and to the cave in the channel. The cave in Cay Caulker is extremely long, over 10 years ago they run over 10,000 feet of line inside, and did not reach the end. All, of this caves are sea caves, and are very different from the Mexican Centos (just come back from one month cave diving in Mexico). Normally sea caves are not as decorated, and the one I dove were cover with red, orange, and white soft corals, with lobsters and nice variety of sea fish. Challenging caves. I received some report of in-land Cenotes in the shrimp farms area, I planning to check them out.

Idaho_diver:
I do not know them, and as Belize is very small place I assume they live in Mexico or Honduras. I tried to search for Andy Phillips on the IANTD Instructor search engine but he is not listed.

The President of IANTD Tom Mount is visiting us, he will be here for two weeks as part of a technical/ Rebreather event we organized, I will ask him. Will be happy to get from you their contact information.

OK, Roni. No problem but I sure think you'd be better off if you weren't leading new customers to believe that you'd be taking them cenote diving when they arrive in a couple of weeks.
