Does anyone know anything about banks having to check my Mastercard before I can use it? In asking a co. about using it, was told this is a new policy for Mastercards. Any info would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

If you don't travel much and use your card almost exclusively at home, it is very possible that your card would be declined, as a preventative of fradulent/stolen use. To avoid this, simply call your card company and advise them of your travel plans....potential problem solved.

KLCMAN~
My credit card co. knows the dates I'll be in AC and I do travel 2/3 times a year outside of the states as well as in the states. The problem was that a co. that I contacted on AC to possibly hire said that it's a new rule, that the bank has to check out my MasterCard, before I can use it in AC. So just trying to find out what the problem is there with MasterCard, and if anyone else has had this problem. I will bring some cash, but have always traveled using the credit card for most lg. purchases/higher priced tours.
Does anyone have any info on this? Apparently it's only w/MasterCard not Visa.
Thanks again.

Nope, never heard of this one.
IMO the AC co. is not so familiar with MC or cc's.

We have just got a card machine and we were given a limit to go up to with Visa from the bank but with M/C we have to phone and check every transaction, we do not no why.

Thanks for your reply ~ seems kinda strange ~ plan on using mostly cash, but wanted the MasterCard for the bigger ticketed items.

I learn more odd ball tips on this board. Thanks, I'll leave the MC home. Watch out for the fees, a lot of charge cards are now charging 3% for using the card outside the USA. On top of whatever they charge the business. Seems over the top.
