We are from Milwaukee and are planning a trip in April for a week. I have narrowed down to two places, the Blue Tang Inn and Coral Bay Villas. Anything anyone can tell me about each will be helpful !!
Can we snorkling right from the beach or do you need to book organized tours ?? We want to do lots of snorkling and have our own equipment.
Thinking about a day trip to Caye Caulker, Tsunami seems to have good rates for transport, we were thinking about renting a kayak, packing a lunch and going to shark alley for a little snorkeling, will that take the whole day?
Also, I have been told that "you have to do Reggie's cave tubing" from someone who was on a cruise. And another person said they did a jungle trip where they were able to interact with Monkeys, that sounded cool. We also enjoy horsebackriding. Any suggestions on things to do and recommended tours ??

These are just my opinions, but it would be the Blue tang for me because the location is so great. You can take the water taxi to caulker from the pier near Fido's, it leaves at various times daily.
As to kayaking to shark/ray, I may be wrong, but I think you must have a guide, as it's a pay to use/protected area. You know, no fishing or taking of coral ect...
Cave Tubeing is a blast, I've done the Jaguar Paw tour & had a good time, usually includes the zoo as well.
If you have a day to give to a tour, I would suggest the trip to Lamanai with Tanisha Tours. This one takes you by boat up one of the rivers to the village of Bomba, there you pick up a bus and proceed to another river. The boat there takes you to the mayan ruins of Lamanai. It includes lunch, & seeing much of the interior of belize, as well as countless birds and wildlife, much that you miss if you stay on the caye.Enjoy! You're gonna love it. smile

Phyllis, my experience snorkeling from the beach was unrewarding, the tours that take you off shore will allow you to see much more, however snorkeling off Ramon's pier is enjoyable enough. A night snorkle trip will be an awsome experience, so much larger fish are out then.Don't miss Mexico Rocks, it's often overlooked by tourists who only go to Shark Ray/Holchan.
