AmbergrisCaye.com Home Forums The Cayes Ambergris Caye Diving in May

Last year we came down to Ambergris Caye in March and had a hard time getting any dives on the other side of the reef due to wave conditions. There was a dive boat that tried and capsized while we were there. Our divemaster Clive Forman watched wave conditions everyday and we were able to fit one late afternoon/ evening dive in nearby that was excellent.

We compensated by doing a few shallow dives inside the reef admidst snorkelers and took an overnighter to other islands and the Blue Hole which was fantastic. Where there is a will, there is a way!

However, this year we were thinking about coming down a few months later in May to hopefully get in some better diving conditions outside the reef near AC.

Any comments on diving conditions near AC in May are appreciated? Also, heard about whales near Belize during full moons. Anyone know about this as well?

Diving in May tends to be calmer so should not have the problems you encountered last year.

As far as whales your probably talking about whale sharks which are found in the Placencia area around Gladden spit too far from Ambergris to make it there.
