Hi! I'm traveling with my parents and my brother to Belize in March, and I'm trying to figure out where the best place would be to stay. We would like to be walking distance to town, and be in a resort with a nice beach and pool. My brother and I are in our 20s. The Palms looks nice, and very convenient, but I've heard good things about Banyan Bay, but it seems very far away...any other suggestions? Belize Yacht Club? What does everyone think? Thanks for your input!

Both places are good Jen! The Palms is a lot closer to town and very nice units, the pool is on the back side of the building not the seaside. (It was actually our third choice the first time we went so I did check it out) If you are thinking a two BR there you may ask about their “lofts” I personally like my privacy, but I do know there is a least one unit which is not a loft bedroom. Banyon Bay is great, a bit further from town but large units! I would really like to plug another place that we adore but I'd get heck from the regs! Enjoy your stay wherever and PLEASE write a trip report upon your return!!! Thanks in advance!

We only need one bedroom so The Palms works best for us. But if we ever required two bedrooms I think we might opt for Banyan Bay. They are both nice places but it is hard to beat the ultra convenience of The Palms.

No, Hope/DenverDan, you won't get flak from the "regulars" if you want to mention another resort you like. In fact, I'll even mention it for you, it's Caribe Island Resort and it's a very nice place.
What you WILL get flak for is taking unjustified "pot-shots" at the competition.
There, I was waiting to answer your post of a few days ago!
Have a very nice New Year.

Denverdan, I am curious as to what place you adore? How can I contact you outside of the board? We are leaning towards the palms now...I hear we can share the facilities at ramon's village. I was also thinking about belize beach suites, but it seems far!

Young adults in my family, want to stay close to town, easy walking distance, to roam San Pedro for good food and entertainment nightly.

Denver dan adores Caribe Island Inn. Nice place but even farther than Banyan Bay. The Palms is very nice and great location but you will not be able to share all the facilities of Ramon's next door. Well you can eat at the restaurant, drink at the bar, dive with the dive shop, but not use the pool. Beach is free access to all.

Jen, two thoughts from me,I love Belizean Reef Suites, right next door to The Palms. It's a condo building as well & is so clean and close to everything. No pool though. Also, The Blue Tang, also close to everything, but does have a pool. I like being able to cook some for myself & not have to go out to eat unless I want too. They also will do your laundry for a small fee. These are some of the reasons I usually stay at Belizean Reef Suites.

Jen, The Palms sounds like what you are looking for, you may also want to check out Sunbreeze and Corona del Mar. (sp) There are lots of good places near town! Enjoy!!! Hope You can reach me through my husbands e-mail if you want to. [email protected]

I'm more partial to Banyan Bay..........Larger pool on the beach, large grounds, big units, and a restaurant on the grounds. It is farther from town but that's what golf carts are for. crockhunter
