We just received the beautiful hardwood furniture that we purchased from Graniel's, located on Middle Street (just north of Black Coral St). Armando Graniel is a local builder and cabinet maker in San Pedro, who also makes multi-colored hardwood furniture with a natural finish. We are extremely pleased with our purchase, which (including air freight) cost much less than if we had purchased it in the US. Having the furniture in our sun room will allow us to enjoy our trip every day! Check them out when you are in San Pedro. Or look at their web site at //

You don't say! I just received my clam-shell chairs yesterday. $120bz each. Yet did you know that some stock in the shop is made on the mainland by the Menninites(sp)? The clamshell chair is claimed to be a Belize original.

How much was your shipping costs?

Yes, thats the clamshell chair, named because of the way it folds up. You'll notice it throughout Belize. I purchased two from Graniels for $240bz. They were marked as $125bz each but they gave me a deal.

I bought two of the clamshell chairs (didn't know that was their name until today) back in 1999 from a man named Antonio off the main street in San Pedro. Took them both home with me as checked luggage. Getting them from baggage claim in Mpls/St. Paul was quite entertaining. Antonio packed them in a bicycle box. They were unfinished and cost me $25 US each. Do you suppose that's a thing of the past?

Total shipping cost for our purchase (2 clam shell chairs, a 2-seat lounge, 2 cayo chairs, 3 bar stools, 4 tables) was just under $300 by air. (approx 220 lb shipment). These pieces will look great in morning room of our new house! And be a constant reminder of our trip.
