Hey...pro Belizer's...any problems with the food or water upsetting the North American stomach? Went to Cancun last year and found myself frequenting the bathroom missing out on the fun!!! Locals claimed it was more the dairy products (eg: milk & cheese) than the water. Found a quick remedy although a little too late....squeeze an entire lime into 4 ounces of coke drink and repeat 1 hour later. Would appreciate any info especially since I most recently had intestinal surgery and would like to avoid problems...thanks

Yes the lime in coke is a quick great fix.

Family of five had no trouble with the food, except one hamburger was troublesome to grandson in San Pedro, but the lime and coke fixed him up.
One other trip a hamburger got me too.

I would always buy bottled water, just best not to take the risk. Drink Beliken.

Never had a problem with anything. My wife is usually susceptible to those things, but she's never had even a hint of anything that couldn't be tied to panty rippers. Tapwater is a bit blah, but we used it for coffee and teethbrushing. The bottled tastes better for drinking. No problem with water or ice in the restaurants either. I do tend to not drink milk down there, had an issue in Mexico one time and am gunshy. Nice tip about the coke and lime, I'll file it away. Coke tastes better down south, I believe they still make it with real sugar, and a lime wedge in it makes a fantastic thirst quencher if you are not into Belikin.

Been there, done that, the washing machine ate the T-shirt

Our fishing/snorkeling guide Oh Danny Boy, gave us the lime and coke cure recipe.

Note, do the coke and lime, in a place where you can up chuck in privacy, within a few minutes.
