i will be at CMR 5/1 - 5/8 and cant find airfare for under $750 a seat
leaving from NYC area
any help or thoughts

last year i only paid $450ish

where in the dickens are you looking? EWR to BZE running $503 on Hotwire $550ish on Orbitz 90 days out might be a tad early too

Jet fuel prices currently at their highest (on sustained basis) in 14 yrs, so it seems unreasonable to expect pricing to go below last year's for theforeseeable future (excluding sales/fare wars)

It won't help you in May, but American Airlines just announced a $379 fare from DFW for later in February.

I am flying from Los Angeles around those same dates and noticed in the past week the fares went up and very few specials. Keep your eye out though - because with Easter, Spring Break, etc. you may start to see some quick specials to fill up flights. I would monitor daily - because even though national specials come out Weds at midnight, international can be anytime. But Thursdays are always good days to check.

Also check the airline sites directly because they want you to book through them and not the bulk travel sites, so they may offer their own internet rate (as is the case with Taca).

Also - it is a good idea to wait until you are 4-6 weeks away. Then you can potentially get a last minute special fare - you just may need to be a little flexible in your flights times. But best advice is to monitor several options for a few weeks.

Exito might be good from some locations, but the OP's Saturday travel dates make Exito higher than the Hotwire or Orbitz (today anyway)...I'd still wait a bit before booking. You might also consider, if possible, changing the travel dates & avoid the weekends and the higher rates.

TACA has a good fare out of Houston to BC. $380 including all taxes.
