Cave tubing or cave canoeing. Not much rafting in Belize. Either or both are worth doing.

6 of us went last year in March and there were no Bugs. We did have a blast! You will have to walk and carry your tube for a ways but not bad! Have a great time!

Go to Cave's Branch - Ian Anderson's place.
Bugs are not particularly plentiful in a dark cave ---- there be bats, not bugs.

6 of us went cave tubing at Jaguar Paw last week. We all had a blast. The jungle you walk through to get to the caves is beautiful 30 to 40 minute walk. Need sneakers for the walk. Enjoy!!!

Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain.

Indygal - did you stay at Jaguar Paw? We're thinking of making that our "splurge" stay in Belize in June. Did you need special shoes for the cave tubing or did you just wear your tennies in the water? We are soooo looking forward to this trip! Sharon

p.s. - my whole family is originally from Indiana - Henry County, a little town called Straughn in the Center of the state off 40. Small world... :p

I went tubing last June with my wife and another couple at Jaguar Paw. It was an AWESOME experience and I would highly recommend it. Yes, the jungle walk to get to the river was an added bonus to the experience. No problem with bugs, although we did apply bugspray for the jungle walk. NOTE: if your schedule is a little flexible, I would make sure you go on a day when there are no cruise ships in port. The day we went, we were the only 4 people in the river! But the previous day, they had had 300-400 people through! Just a thought. You will definitely need some type of foot covering (no flip-flops or sandels) but the rubber-soled "water socks" should do just fine. Enjoy!
