We will be arriving on March 6th and plan to do a resort course or just snorkel. Can the mask, fins and snorkel be purchased down there and what can a person expect to pay? Thanks for the advice.

Sorry..we go to dive locations at least twice a year. I bought my mask and snorkel about 8 years ago. If you rinse in fresh water and keep properly they will last for years and years. Go to a local dive shop and price, it will pay for itself if you use a few times a year.

Thanks for the help. We will shop around to see if we can find any here in Nebraska before we head out. Who all will be there March 6th thru the 13th? We are coming with another couple from Colorado. Our 3rd time, their 1st. Looking forward to the arrival.

mask and snorkels are like ski boots. better to own, and fit perfectly.

carry with you, and rent the rest if doing scuba...

Doesn't matter about the snorkel, but we see lots of people with ill-fitting masks that really ruin their holidays. Either buy one at home on the basis that you can return it if it didn't fit properly, or buy one on arrival. There is a scuba/snorkel gear shop in San Pedro that stocks at least 10 different models of mask, so you should find one to fit your shape face. And buying it locally you can exchange it if it turns out not to fit properly. Prices around US$40, which compares very well with the US.

Are there places you can rent snorkle equipment from instead of hauling it all along?

A mask and snorkel will not be hard to find in SP, buying or renting. Owning a good mask and snorkel is by far better. To know if it fits your face correctly, simply place the strap out of the way, hold the mask up to your face and inhale through your nose so as to suction cup it to your face, not to hard now, and face the ground, if it stays on and holds a seal with your hair outta the way ofcourse, than it fits you.
