Hello everyone! Thank you for all of the wonderful info I have gained while reading this message board! My husband and I are headed down in May. Staying at Playa Blanca Island Villa. I am so excited! Has anyone stayed there recently?

We are planning on spending most of our time fishing and snorkeling with one trip to Lamanai.
We have booked a day with Capt Bicho. If anyone has stayed there, how was fishing with Alberto?

Again, thanks to you all! Can't wait!!

You will enjoy your time with Capt. Bicho. If you want to fish he is the one! Don't hesitate to use him for all your fishing. I booked him for 4 days and can not wait! Get him to do the Beach BBQ for you as he is a fantastic cook!!

mwilli,
My son and I will be there from May 17 to 27. We plan to do lots of fishing. Perhaps we could share sometimes so we can get a lot more fishing in. We are really eager to catch tarpon and if lucky maybe a marlin.

Are you guys going to be fly fishing for Tarpon? Just curious, as I'm heading down in April for Tarpon, Permit, and Bones on fly.

My son does fly fishing but I do not. He will probably fly fish for bones. I feel sure that the both of us will use the recommended tackle for tarpon and hopefully marlin.

If your son wants to try fly fishing on his own up and down the caye when you're not with a guide(like early morning or sunset), there are some spots that you can walk to and cast a fly for bones or cuda. This is a good article about a brit that recorded his findings of spots to fish on the caye. http://globalflyfisher.com/reports/belize2002/

hey Angelo--
i'm headed down in early april for my honeymoon, so I get one, count 'em one day for fishing. Which makes me wonder why I've tied about 100 bonefish flies.
If you only had half a dozen tarpon flies, what would you bring?

100 Bonefish flies? I hope you tied some blind or with mono eyes. I hear they're really spooky in thin water in Belize. I'm bringing about 20 Charlies and Gotchas(wht, tan, olive, brn, orange) - half blind, half mono. I've also got some shrimp and Bonefish Bitters as well as small Clousers all in sizes 6 and 8 only, with most of them being 6. For Tarpon I'm bringing Black Death, Cockroach, Burnt Orange Grizzly, Stu Apte Red and Yellow, and Lefty's Red and White. I've got 'em in 1/0, 2/0, and 3/0. These sizes allow me to get into the resident babies and if all goes well the migratory Tarpon will start to move in and I can make use of the 3/0. I didn't even consider 4/0, but I would if I were going in the late summer. If I absolutely had to pick only a few, then I'd take the Cockroach and Orange Grizzly in 2/0. That covers dark and light and 2/0 is apparently the best choice if you're limited in tackle.

Don't forget the tandem cuda flies(2/0 green/wht, blue/wht). I'm going up to the cut to use these from the bank.

What dates are you going to be there in April? I'm heading down 4/10 - 4/18.

~ May you lines be tight ~

Thanks Angelo.
Pretty much confirms what I thought. Long, cold Alaskan nights make you do crazy things like tie a hundred bonefish flies. I tied 'em blind, mono and small beadchain. I can always use the extras for grayling and char this summer. I tied a egg sucking gotcha I can't wait to try.
I leave on the 10th, I'll try to leave a few bones for 'ya!!
