My wife & I are FNG to your forum. We are planning our trip to AC May 3 - May 19. We have an I.I. exchange date at the Costa Maya on May 8 - 15. We are considering other places for the 5/3-5/8 & 5/15 -5/18. Among our list is Banana Beach, Coral Bay Villas & Mata Rocks. I would like some feed back as to which one we should use.
This is a great site and we have learned a lot about SP already! Can't wait for May. I plan to do a lot of diving and my wife plans a lot of "laying on the beach, soaking up sun".

Try "winging it" for the rest of your stay!
The time frame you will be there is good for that. That's low season and occupancy is usually lower and the prices are competitive then. We have done that before and never had any problems during that period. Lots of nice places to stay.
Get something close to town for the first couple days and do some lookin around. eek :p

Consider the mainland in a lovely jungle lodge for part of your stay. You get a much more full experience of Belize if you stay inland as well as on the beach.

I would agree with Richard on this one. You are coming at low season and there are plenty of vacancy, except maybe at Banana's which seems to always be busy. Also,it is nice to stay in town on the first trip here. Banana and Malta are out of town a ways.

Tater, you must be a VN vet, every vet knows FNG is for "funny new guy". We like BB and its close enough to town, 15 min walk down the beach.

dscallah,

Yep. You know it. Except it wasn't exactly "friendly" new guy when we said it then, Huh!
Thanks for the information on accommodations.
Sorry I was so late in responding. Was away from the computer today. Seeing off my NY son who was here for my big "60..."
So nobody has any info on Costa Maya? I see it appears to be the last place on the north of town. Any problems getting back & forth?
