Hello all! I am really loving this site & I've spent a lot of time reading all of your advice about AC. I am super excited about our trip (honeymoon) in August. I've narrowed down our choice for a 7 night stay to Banyan Bay & Banana Beach. I've ruled out VH (too expensive), Caribe (too far), and Xanadu (too secluded), but I like this general area of AC (south of the cut, close enough to town, but far enough away from the noise).

What I would like to know, in your opinion, is Banyan Bay worth the extra 400 over Banana Beach & why/not?

Here's what I've come up with: Banyan Bay has an extra room (we don't really need), a better beach (no sea wall like Banana) & a jacuzzi. Are there any other benefits? I figure we don't need the second room & we can walk over to the better beach to swim from shore. Is the jacuzzi big enough for 2 people? If not, than it's really not a benefit for us. I know Banana has king sized beds, but does Banyan?

Again, I am super excited & I appreciate any advice you guys can give. Thanks!

Both prop's are indeed nice. Have never stayed at V@BB, but have seen the units. Nice indeed. Stayed @ BB several times. For the $400 diff, my vote would be BB. The physical distance between them is maybe a 3 minute walk. Arguably the best beach in the area is located between them. Jacuzzis are for apres ski, not apre sun-snorkel-scuba wink but's that my opinion wink

banyan bay looked very beautiful...passed by it many times walking the beach from BB to town...

don't think we would have paid the extra $$ for it...being the same basic location...but...

bb does not have a great beachfront or surrounding property...meaning space and sand and trees...places to be off by yourself...the small beachfront is quite crowded with lounge chairs side by side...and often full of people ...three rows deep...

many other properties...xanadu, ramons...exotic caye...& others...have spacious beachfronts with hammocks and chairs spread out in the sand under trees...we would have liked that...more places to feel the space around you...

but...for the money...bb is a fabulous deal!! especially in the ocean front suites...

Thanks guys! I don't think the jacuzzi is a big plus, I'm always hot & I know I'll be even hotter with 8 days of sun!

Now I'm wondering if I should throw Xanadu back into the mix. Same general area, but no restaurant, and no king bed (2 queens instead). Its a little bit more expensive than Banana Beach (about 200 for 7 nights). I've also read the beach isn't that great...maybe not for swimming, but good for laying out in more privacy? How far is it to the nearest swimable shore? My last concern was that the balconies are not as private as BB or V@BB.

Blah...This shouldn't be this hard. I know we'll love whichever we choose just b/c we're on AC, but I guess I just want to pick whats best for us. You only honeymoon once!

The jacuzzi at Banyan is a bathtub with jets, not a large hot tub. Xanadu & BB both can have king beds. The beach is best at Banyan, then BB, then Xanadu. Xanadu's beach is very narrow but they do have a good swimming spot off the end of their dock. It seems to me the most private is corner suites at BB (2nd or 3rd floor) or Oceanfront suites at Xanadu. No restaurant at Xanadu but great one at BB and fair one at Banyan. I have stayed at all 3. Email me if you need more specifics.
