Anyone know if Belize Academy of Diving is still in operation? I have sent off a couple of emails and the phone seems to be disconnected. Was the shop of choice for Portofino. Any other suggestions if staying at Portofino? Thanks!

Not so cold in Jersey

They certainly are - one of their boats was alongside ours at Hol Chan yesterday. Hopefully they'll see your query and reply. An alternative (one of many) is Protech ([email protected]), which although not local does pick up/drop off and often has divers from Portofino and surrounding resorts.

Checked for BAD on Google for you - they are at www.belize-academy-of-diving.com, email [email protected], phone 226-3170. If you use them you won't have any regrets, and they are (as you wanted) local to Portofino.

We had planned to use BAD before we changed our accomodations from the North to the South, I had been corresponding by e-mail with Craig at: [email protected]. I would take him a little while to respond, it seems he has a lot of trouble with his e-mail over there. He was very helpful and I had read no negative feedback from the message board re: BAD. I have been trying to contact him, maybe real busy!! Warm clear water of Belize will be perfect for your certification. I did mine at Little Dix many years ago..Beats Jersey..If you go with BAD, tell him to mail [email protected] time is near!!
