Yes, there are salt water crocs here, but you shouldn't be concerned about them. They live on the lagoon side of the island, and there are several places where it is quite common to see them. Mostly you will see them in the water, although they do climb out onto land occasionally. Some locals bring tourists down to a spot south of town around sunset, where they throw raw chicken out to the crocs ... for entertainment value I suppose. Not a good idea, IMHO, nor is wading or swimming in the lagoon, unless you are quite sure you are in an area that is not inhabited by crocs.
