I will be staying in AC for a week in the beginning of May. Planning a trip to Tikal, and from the info I have received, probably the overnight trip...flying there and spending the night at Isla de Flores. I did not plan on taking anti-malaria meds for AC, but now unsure if I need chloroquine for the trip to Tikal. Any suggestions? Thanks.

We did the trip in February and took the chloroquine. I don't think it would have been necessary as we didn't encounter misquitoes. We left Flores at 5 am and arrived at Tikal shortly after sunrise. We then departed sometime in mid afternoon, so we wern't there at sundown when the little critters would have been more active. Early morning ia a good idea to avoid the heat and it gives you a chance to see more wildlife.
