My soon-to-be husband and I will be spending our honeymoon at ramon's from june 22-30. we are looking forward to sitting on the beach, watching the world go by and enjoying the culture of AC. just curious if anyone has any "must see or do" activites that we shouldn't miss out on. We will spend a half day snorkeling for sure but just wanted any input on anything else we can't leave without doing. otherwise, we are more than happy to sit back and relax!! thanks

Walk up north and relax at the hammock house bar just accross the cut for an afternoon, you will enjoy it!

You're staying at a nice place that has nice areas to do the relaxing you want to do.My wife & I stopped there while walking the beach to have a drink. We may consider staying there on our next trip.Seeing as how you will be there 9 days I would suggest a full day snorkle trip that includes a stop at Caye Caulker.Have lunch at Rasta Pasta on the beach,the food,staff & location are real nice.

Rent a golf cart,a gas one,and explore the island.I would suggest head south in the A.M.
then up north across the cut on the hand ferry.Stop at Sweet Basil's for lunch,it may be a bit pricey,but well worth it.Then go further north to look around at some of the resorts up there.The road gets a bit rough at times,but is navigable as long as it's not the rainy season.

Ramons is close to town,only a maybe ten minute walk,so take advantage of that & enjoy the wonderful atmosphere & in my opinion some of the freshest,finest prepared,& tasty seafood I have ever had,& I live in Boston,a mecca for seafood!! In town is where you will experience the people of San Pedro & the culture.I have been to many Islands & some I would never return to because the people were nasty & only had there hands out all day for money. I really felt welcome in San Pedro & all over AC & it was genuine.The locals love to talk about where they live & go out of there way to make you feel comfortable.Walking around town is fun & at least one mornig go to Estels on the beach for breakfast,it's great.It,s approx. half way in town. Thanks for the tips...I can already tell it's going to be a wonderful trip. Do you think it's worth doing a trip to Altun-Ha or the Belize Zoo? We don't want to take a long trip to Lamanai so curious as to if one of these other activities is worth it.

I suggest you do the Altun Ha trip with SEArious. Willie is a great guide and you get to go hang out at Maruba Jungle Spa for lunch and a swim in the pool after the ruins tour. You can have a spa treatment too if you want. I had an incredible pedicure in the most amazing setting there. I highly recommend it. Also Willie seems to know how to avoid the cruise ship crowds, when we got to Maruba we were the only five people there. Have a great trip. I think you are going to love Ramon's. We have stayed there twice and have been really really happy there. Enjoy! mobunny

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm mistaken, but as I recall, the time difference, between the Altun Ha/Maruba tour and Lamanai is virtually none. And, IMHO, Lamanai is a much better trip. Hook up with Daniel Nunez (Tanisha) and be well taken care of!

Your right - probably the same time committment. I have not done the Lamanai ruins yet. We were gonna go during our visit last August but, our neighbors at Ramons' went one day and came back exhausted and their legs literally covered with mosquito bites. They loved the ruins but it was a long hot humid day. As an alternative the ruins at Altun Ha (Willie is an extremely knowledgable guide) are impressive in their own right and the break you get from the heat at Maruba is fabulous. The resort is beautiful with hibiscous flowers used to decorate literally everything (food, drinks, chairs, the pedicure soak water). Great service, cocktails and food. We really enjoyed our time there. Just depends how much time you want to spend in the hot sun that day. Have a wonderful time no matter what you choose to do!! mobunny

Here's my two cents. We are just back from our third trip to AC this past Sat:). We did the Lamanai trip for the second time and used SEArious. Highly recommended. No problem what so ever with bugs ourselves but of course I am not sure what the situation is like in June..? Not as breezy = more bugs I guess...? Should you decide on Lamanai try Searious. You won't be dissapointed with Willie!

I would also suggest renting a golf cart for an afternoon maybe and taking a picnic lunch to a secluded area. Have a wonderful honeymoon and I am sure you will love AC!

We did several "special" activities that were unforgettable. Do a search on the board to see extensive discussions about cave tubing, manatee watching/Goff's Caye BBQ and a beach BBQ.

Although the manatee watching may not be that great, Goff's Caye and the stop by Caye Caulker is wonderful. Cave tubing is a never forget experience. And a day-long snorkel trip with a beach BBQ north of San Pedro really gets you away from everything.
