It ain't happening, only vehicles allowed as I saw it were for commercial purposes, trucks & taxi vans.Otherwise mode is golf carts. You would have to leave your vehicle on the mainland somewhere.

There were private vehicles on the island owned by residents, a newer Tahoe, for example. But one of the local people told us that as of the first part of March, the powers that be were putting a stop to issuing any more licenses both to larger vehicles, such as cars pickups, and vans, and also halting registration for golf carts. This basically means that you cannot legally drive a vehicle on the island that is not already registered. No telling when new licenses and registrations will be issued.

No way will a tourist be permitted to bring his/her vehicle to the island. You don't need it anyway.

It may be hard to understand that you can actually live (happy & unburdened) without a car.
You can walk from one end of town to the other via the beach in about 5 minutes. That's you don't stop a dozen times to chat with the friendly folks you meet here.
If you are in a hurry or have baggage a taxi costs BZ$5 (that's US$2.50) and they don't charge for extra people.
If you are going w-a-y south you might have to pay BZ$10 - whoopee!
Then there are the water taxis. I'm not sure about the rates, but I'm sure someone will post them.
Many resorts that require a boat ride provide that service on a regular basis.
Yes, there are w-a-y too many motor vehicles here already!
The above are some of the reasons I moved here.

Barge leaves Belize City Tuesday and Friday mornings (iirc). Getting on/off the island is not the problem, it's the new AC restrictions. Depending on the length of your stay, it's nothing a bluenote can't get past wink .

Joking aside... The effort has been strong to restrict/or tax bigtime any new vehicle to the island. Several days a week there are roadblock/checkpoints.

The blue Tahoe pays bigtime for 4-5 off island trips a year.
