Goody2Shuz &/or BNBelizeSoon,

Don't mean to take up space on the board, but I need to know from either of you about how you got your reservation to Cost Maya Reef Resort cancelled. Did you get them through II? We are extremely unhappy with II but they will not let us cancel our reservation. If you know of the trick let us know. Thanks.

When we got the letter from II, stating that the amenities listed on the website were not quite true... I called II and told them I felt the place was mis-represented. Then called CMR and told them that II was refunding my money and I wanted a refund for the extra night that I had booked on my own. They were both very good about it and very understanding. Just call customer service and ask, I am glad I did. We just got back today and we had every intention of driving the golf cart to CMR, got as far as Captain Morgan's (that was the good part of the road we heard), and could not even imagine what the rest of the road to CMR would have been like... I am still sore from the trip to Cptn Morgans.... Good luck!

BNB - Just curious your thoughts on Captain Morgans. Did you check it out at all? I am leaving in 12 days.

It was very nice. I did not get in to see the rooms but it was very clean looking, grounds were well groomed... and the staff was very nice. It was quite a drive to get there but it was kind of fun too. I would suggest the water taxis or shuttle. The pool was pretty big and there was a bar, restaurant, activities hut and gift shop right by the pool. It was very quiet when we were there but it looked like a perfect place to stay... Have fun! I took a couple of pictures of the place and hope to have them up soon.

Tators & Dab...Just returned myself. As far as a refund for CMR we booked it under a getaway. It worked out for us because we received an updated confirmation letter from II stating that some of the amenities that were previously listed were not there and apologized for any inconvenience it may cause us. We got in touch with II and told them that we wouldn't have booked the getaway if we had known such amenities were missing and that they would have to find us something else or refund us. They posed no argument and told us they would refund by our next statement. I did manage to venture up to Costa Maya Resort...very nice place but way up took us at least 1 and a half hours via golf cart on barely driveable roads/mudswampy areas and sorry to say via beach. There is no way you can go to & from Costa Maya without driving on the beach(sorry Diane). We did not go on beach where there were signs....but there were points where there was no other way to proceed. The resort was far removed from others...I was glad I stayed at Banana was not close to town but not so removed wither. I see that Coconut stayed up north & I believe it was at CMR and from her responses got to & from town via water taxi. It's just not where I'd prefer to stay, wanting to be close but not to close to other things.

Now Captain Morgans is another thing. I would actually entertain staying there especially since it is a time share which I look forward to trading into. The property is spread out a matter of fact I have some great photos which I hope to post soon if I can figure out's still removed from town...took us about 30-40 minutes by cart...but beautiful!!!
