Mikell...hats off to you & your husband!!! I kept thinking of you & the walks into town from Banana Beach!!! Sorry...but this family would have never been able to do it...the kids would've been complaining the entire time. I was glad we ended up taking the 3rd floor unit...we really needed the exercise. When we went to Caye Caulker...we rented bicycles rather than a cart & it felt good to use those muscles again!!!

Spent a week on AC in January. Stayed at Brianna's Beach House - run by Searious Adventures. Complete 2 bedroom house with full kitchen. No pool, but a million dollar view from the front porch - oceanfront! South of the cut, a 10 minute walk to town, quiet and wonderful.....wouldn't have it any other way! Should be in your budget range at that time of year. The Tides Hotel is 2 doors down the beach and they have a pool - perhaps you could make arrangements with them....they also have a thatch covered bar where you can soak up a few Belicans and the Trade Winds (say Hi! to bartender Butch!)

Thanks for all the suggestions. We finally have decided on Belizean Shores. The pool was the deciding factor since I am a big sun worshipper and spend many of my vacation hours pool side. The one con was the distance to town. I'm hoping that we won't mind the bicycle or water taxi water back and forth. Are there any activities going on in the North? Beach BBQ's, live music, etc.?

When we first arrived at Banana Beach we met a couple who had started out at Belizean Shores and were finishing up their trip at BB. They said they liked Belizean Shores far better...that it was quieter, they liked the beach and units better and that the food there was less expensive than El Divino and the other restaurants in the area. We traveled north via Golf cart and you're probably talking about at least a half an hour to 45 minutes to the hand ferry and another 5- 10 minutes to town. Possibly the water taxi is quicker...other resorts have restaurants like Capricorns which I hear has great food but was closed on Wednesdays which was the day we were up there, and there's a Pauly's pizza that will deliver up north as well. Hope you ahve a great time...I'm just back and wish I were getting ready to go again!!!...Goody

Thanks goody2shuz! I appreciate your reply. Since no one resort had everything I was looking for I had to give somewhere. I can't wait to leave. I wake up thinking about it every morning. We'll be there July 9-16, but we're traveling to Blacaneaux Jungle Lodge first for three nights. Let me know if you have any must see or must eats on AC since you just returned.

Trying to proceed with my trip report that will cover some of the places you must see and eat. You can't fail going by the recommendations of the boarders here...I made myself a list of places to eat and the one time we went out on our own was the only time we were truly disappointed...Goody
