For those of us who have been hiding under 5 layers of material all winter, what's the suggested sun block SPF for when we peel off all those layers?

Coppertone BUG&SUN waterproof, with highest SPF.

Found this ok for the super sensitive skins in our clan.

Some say 30 SPF is about as high of protection as can be made, even if the number on the bottle reads really high.

Slather up before leaving your room every morning, then reapply mid day. If in water reapply more often. Use as your body lotion even after showers. You might need the bug protection after dark.

Whatever you do, wear a t-shirt if you go out on a boat, keep it on in the water and make sure your "cheeks" are covered. I cut my hair really short, went out on the boat and alas, ended up with blisters on my ears! If you need to buy sunblock down here, the cheapest place is the pharmacy around the corner from the post office!

Yeah...we brought 3- 8 oz. spray bottles for a family of 4 thinking it would be enough & ended up running out. Found the cost of sunscreen to be up there...will remember the pharmacy for next time!!...Goody

definitely cover your ears. We started with 30 and dropped to 15 after a few days. Our skin had been covered head to toe in polartec since october, so if it worked for us....

OOOPS! sent before finishing. The tanning is a great help to get a good base. Still have to be careful of that close sun starting out,but much easier.

How about those people you approach on the beach and say to them "I think your getting really red,you might want to cover up" They look at you like you had two heads. Later that night you see them and they look like a neon sign & in obvious pain headed back to the hotel because they can't stop shaking. Next day on the beach with socks,
pants, shirts, hats & towel over the head!!!

It's one thing if your trip is hurt by bad weather, accomodations or whatever, but don't let it be a first class BBQ sunburn.

SPF 30 for sure! The top of my ears got burnt the first day! They are still peeling... The t-shirt in the water is a must too, especially if you are trying out the snorkeling thing... My daughter found out the hard way about not getting the sunblock all over too, she bought a tube top bathing suit so she would be tanned in the right places in her prom dress and you can actually see her hand print where the sunblock stopped and and she is still red and peeling at the top of the tube.... good thing prom is not for a couple of more weeks or some guys might take those prints as an invitation...haha wink

I found a hat is really needed especially if you spend much time on a boat. And a long sleeve lightweight shirt is great to have as well as sunscreen.
