Staying at Corona Del Mar. I have read that you really don't need a golf cart for more than a day to explore, especialy being they aint cheap. I have one of those electric scooter jobs I bought off E-bay. It is only for 1 person and goes like 14mph so not big or heavy. Can I bring this to SP or will I have a customs nightmare? Are the roads hard or soft sand, etc. This thing does NOT handle much more than packed dirt and paved roads. Being it will fit in a suitcase(it folds) I was thinking it might be cool....then I started thinking it might be 20lbs of crap to lug around the airport. On my honeymoon I had a great idea to cart a wakeboard to the grenadines being I had free waterskiing...what a HUGE mistake and a royal PITA.

I wouldn't bother! Some of the roads are pretty soft sand, and if it has rained...I don't know about the customs part of it, but unless you're going to be there for a LONG time, I'd say it isn't worth hauling it down. It's really more fun to do the golfcart thing; and also rent a bike and go exploring like that!

There was someone who was trying to sell those on the island. They weren't allowed to, based on their having a motor, even a battery powered motor.
So, chances are, you might get it on the island, then get stopped and fined or whatever the penalty is for not having a permit.
Have a great trip!

Ditto on the bike. We had a group of 8 who rented bikes ($5 a day) for the week. It was a great way to explore the island and you go get to enjoy the sights and sounds as you ride by. We stayed north of the cut just north of Sweet Basil and rode as far south as Banyon Bay (took about 30 minutes). We had great weather (no puddles) and the ocean breeze keeps the ride pleasant.
