Can anyone give me an opinion regarding the best place to stay? Looking at Banana Beach, Coralbeach Hotel, and Ramons. We would like a place that is clean, and has good service and nice people. My concern about Ramons is that it appears very large. Is it really busy, and is it really close to town or is it still a distance away? Can any one help?!!!!

Ramon's is not so very large. Even when busy, it is not really busy compared to other resorts you may have been to outside of Belize. Ramons is perfectly situated and is *not* a distance from town.
Coral Beach, is not on the beach but has a good location in town.

Seashell has not been here in nearly two years - so her info is not necessarily correct

Really? Pedro, has Coral Beach moved to the shore? Has Ramon's increased in size? Is it absolutely overwhelmed with tourists running to and fro?
And since you are completely wrong about how long I have been away from San Pedro, I'm sure you are equally wrong about a good many other things as well.

We just returned from Ramon's last week. It's not as big as the pictures make it look, but that's not a bad thing. It is a very nice place and we would stay there again. Town is a nice 2-3 minute walk so it's close but far enough away to be very quiet. The staff is very nice and Rick at the dive shop is great. The cabanas are very clean with AC, private bath, large beds etc. The property is well maintained and your room is serviced daily. There is even a grocery store right down the street with everything you could want. If you don't mind spending the money, Ramon's is worth it.

Is that also referred to as Pedro's Backpacker's Inn?

We stayed at Ramon's in Feb and found the staff to be very helpful, location is great and, when we weren't diving, swimming off the pier was very refreshing. Thffeir dive operation is excellent. Boats leave at 9, 11 and 1 so you have your choice of 1, 2 or 3 dives daily. Never crowded. Quiet at night, which we liked. We plan on going back next winter. Good luck.

I stayed at Banyan Bay in March which is really nice but pricey. In May I stayed at the Exotic Caye Beach Resort which is nice, unit 2B. There is a pool, a beach bar, a dive shop on site, and Don and Carol are wonderful hosts. Each condo faces the ocean and it is a quick walk into town. I'm staying there again in September. Go to www.belizeisfun.com and check them out.
