Dear Community Members:

The San Pedro Library is in urgent need of your help. The library is the
only source for reference books needed by many school children who are
assigned research papers as most of the schools do not have libraries. Many
times the library is crowded with students while others wait outside the
door to complete their assigned work. With the help of the community, the
library could make the necessary improvements to enhance the children's
learning environment. Our future depends on the level of educational
resources that we offer them. Won't you help us make the library "a window
to the world of learning" for our children.

Our needs are:

Financial support
Air Conditioner
Hurricane windows and doors
Computers/Internet Connection
Copier, printer & paper
Paint, tile, floor covering for inside
Bookshelves
Tables & Chairs repaired/replaced
Spanish Language books
Children & Young Adult fiction books
Cleaning supplies
Labor

Those who wish to donate items or provide financial support will be
recognized in two categories:

FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY: those willing to contribute on an annual basis
Individuals $50.00
Corporate $200.00
Patron $500.00
SUPPORTERS OF THE LIBRARY: those willing to contribute on a one-time basis
In-kind goods/services/supplies/magazine subscriptions/money

INVEST IN THE LIBRARY AND INVEST IN THE LIFE OF A CHILD
Your support will help us accomplish this goal. You may contact the Library
at 226-3564.

Respectfully,

San Pedro Town Library Committee

Marty: Is there an email address that can be used to make inquiries? I'd be interested in helping out and was wondering how to get the money to them.

As for making donations...Mail to San Pedro Town Public Library, attn: Iracela Acosta. Delivered to library during open hours of 9 AM-1PM - 2 PM - 7PM M-F, 9 AM to 12 PM Saturday. Direct deposits could be made to ATLANTIC BANK A/C # 100128050. CHECKS MADE OUT TO SAN PEDRO LIBRARY COMMITTEE.

I have a letter from the National Library Service which 'exempts all goods imported in Belize for the National Library Service from customs duty and any other tax'.
I can email this to anyone wanting to send books. These should also be sent to San Pedro Town Public Library, attn: Iracela Acosta.

My email address is [email protected]. The library address is [email protected].

Thanks for posting this Marty.

Daphne and I have signed up as Corporate Sponors, and Tom Vidrine notified us that the Chamber of Commerce is donating $1,000 BZE.

We have been to the library, and it's a very good place with a wonderful staff. It provides a GREAT service to the kids on San Pedro and is really important in their education. I hope that people visiting will make some sort of contribution to the Library.

Mike & Daphne
